What I Learned From My Daughter

The bedrock of success—and this is something
all
these success manuals agree on, though they each have different ways of phrasing it—is to be of use to people. You need to make people’s lives easier, not harder, somehow. Once you get that—and for me, I’ll be honest, it took years—you’re better prepared to process, even manage, all the career obstacles you’ll eventually (and inevitably) face
.

- Megan Hustad

Join us on Do It Right Radio…
DoItRight-logo-LG-Color_Ed

Do It Right Show
, and my friend Gerry Blumberg, who is beginning her speaking and writing second career, is our second producer.

Now it is your turn to see how being an internet radio station program producer can enhance your influence, make you a better communicator, and help you become a great marketer of your career and business. To start, go to
and listen to the audio programs, and read the information.

Then order my CD below and learn some of the tricks of the broadcast trade, and join us on the air!

Now listen to a great story written by my daughter on the radio…

megan_htbu

This is my daughter’s book. Her name is Megan, and she is a wonderful writer and her first book is becoming very successful. It is called,
How to Be Useful - A Beginner’s Guide to Not Hating Work
.

Of course I am prejudiced, but I love it and learned a lot from it. You will like it too! You can get it at any of the online stores and in most bookshops. Here it is at
!

But to practice my audio reading and to share it with you; I have included a section that is very meaningful to me in my radio program on
Do It Right Radio
! So go back to work now and while you are doing that; just go over to the station and listen to my program on
.

Now, you set a goal to become a blogger, broadcaster, and book writer in order to make your mark in the world. We can coach you on how to do it and to make it so!

He’s Happy and other Good Stuff

Life is a series of problems: Either you are in one now, you're just coming out of one, or you're getting ready to go into another one…You can focus on your purposes, or you can focus on your problems.

- Rick Warren

His name is Paul
and he’s happy.

His life has not been easy. There have been many difficulties and disappointments. That is also true for many others. But unlike many who go through deep difficulty, Paul’s faith remained strong, he worked on the issues in life, sought wise counsel and good friends, took risks, pursued his purposes and pressed on! Today Paul is doing well and is one of the premier thinkers and practitioners in how to build business affiliations that are mutually profitable for all.

But here is one of the things I really love about Paul, his happy smile. When you meet Paul and say the standard greeting, “how are you?” Rather than the usual, I’m fine (good) (well)…etc.,
Paul says, “I’m happy!”

Inevitably people are taken back by that and don’t know quite how to respond. Try it yourself this week. Paul really is happy and more and more he says to me, “Stan, you were right; a lot of good things just come to me.” Happy Paul often goes to professional meetings that many just blow off. Inevitably he says, “If you show up, good things happen.” So start being and saying, “I’m happy” and see what happens to you!

WOW websites, and speak like a DJ! – and some shameless Stan self-promotion.

Increasingly I have had a number of clients ask, “Stan what should I put on my web site that is not just more boring stuff? How can I make my web site be WOW? I gave that a lot of marketing and communication thought and I have some answers. There are three things you should have, and if you would like to know what they are you will have to call and ask. Remember when you do your website, speak like a DJ. You can ask me about that too.

One possibility is to have a podcast radio program on your web site or better yet join us on
an internet radio station that has just begun broadcasting.

dirr_logo_tr

But please get some training. I have listened to so many podcasts and audio programs that are just terrible. Being on the radio, doing a podcast or an audio program requires that you know something about radio.

I have been on the radio for over thirty years and I have learned a lot, but I am still learning.
I am going to save you years of learning if you are interested in doing what you must in the years ahead to market yourself and your business; produce podcasts, audio programs, and perhaps do broadcast radio.

Look below here is our newest CD and please go to our PTM Coaching Experience Store at
and order this program. It is fun and you will learn a lot!

Some of Stan’s Talks from the “Spirit.”

I do not hide, nor do I publicize or push that part of my life which is motivated by my strong faith in God and his purposes. My writing and speaking is often about what I call the
4M
factor = (How can I
M
ake
M
ore
M
oney on
M
onday?).

Recently one person asked if I did some speaking on subjects that might be more spiritual in nature. Indeed I do, and I usually don’t publicize this list but if you are interested, here are some the subjects I have spoken on that might be appropriate for you if that is your interest. I simply call it
Stan’s talks from the Spirit
.

The 3 – 12 – 70 Formula – Jesus teaches us how to build an organization that lasts and makes a difference.

The Power of Three (3%) – Setting goals, embracing paradox, and seeing the Trinity.

Adam, Where Are You? - The seven principles for a Biblical style of communication.

Would You Like To Be Touched By an Angel? - How to not be afraid!

Fear Kills Everything! – How to begin the journey away from a life of fear.

Press Toward the Mark! – St Paul teaches you the four key principles for success in your life and business. (a study from Philippians)

Five Life Lessons - I wish someone would have taught me before I was 30, but they did not.

The Seven Pillars of Wisdom – If you can get these right, you are really good!

W3CD – World Class Cross-Cultural Disciples – A new view of entrepreneurial world mission that could change you, the church, and the way we do missions.

Do You Believe? – How to start to build a personal statement of faith and a philosophy of life for you and your business.

In A Box in Egypt – How to begin to develop a Biblical world view for your life and business.

If none of these work ask for other ideas and suggestions; or come up with a topic of your desire. In forty years of teaching, writing, and doing radio programs beamed around the world … there is a good chance that Stan has talked about or has an opinion on something of your interest
.

Again, thanks for reading and I welcome the opportunity to help you press on!

The New Marketing Media & Join Us For
Do it Right Radio!

TONY SNOW RIP

Tony Snow
(click to read story)

I was profoundly saddened on hearing the news of the death of Tony Snow. My wife cried. Tony was much loved. I took a moment to just write down five things I admired about Tony.

  • He was a good and kind man who loved his family deeply.
  • He was a worshipper of the Living God.
  • He was a man of deep faith and strong beliefs.
  • He was very good at the work he did.
  • (And with a smile) He understood that work is indeed a performance and we all must be great performers!
That new marketing stuff …

“Get me some of that new marketing stuff” is the way Seth Godin, marketing guru describes what is happening as per our prediction.

Seth Godin
Seth and I share similar hair styles. Seth was the one who first introduced me to the idea of “dead-tree marketing.” I took my own ideas from there. Seth is one of the most original marketing guys around, and he is right there with me in saying that you better find out whether the new media of blogs, podcasts, web stages, video shows, YOU Tube, and internet Radio is for you ... or not!

Seth also says that it is all about stories today
. That’s been my message for years. So in these tough times you need to find out now whether this new marketing stuff is for you and your business. You need a coach and we can help you. Just e-mail or call, but do something.

Just some new marketing things to listen to, see, and think about…

Part of the new media is creating an experience, indeed marketing is often getting your name and business out there by having and creating some fun.
Make people smile, laugh, and be joyful. This crazy internet video is making the rounds (you may have seen it) and is making Matt a star by just sharing fun. Have some fun:

On the other hand …
I tell people that one of the best uses for the new media is to demonstrate your wisdom, personality, passion, and compassion.
Look at this video of JK Rowling of Harry Potter fame in an address at Harvard University. Great story, very moving, and full of hope and inspiration.

And now it’s your turn in your town and you can be on the radio…

This week, after a few technical glitches and learning, we plan to launch
The Do It Right Radio Network
; and you can have your own program on this Internet radio station.

do_it_right_logo

If you believe you can produce a 15 – 30 minute radio program, you should audition to have your program on the radio. We can teach you how. Even if you don’t believe you can, I believe you can. You just need some coaching.

First order our new CD,
So You Want to
Be On The Radio – Twenty-One Rules You Need To Know
( and the first rule is there are no rules … this is good stuff).
Order the CD in
Our Coaching Experience Store
at,

In a special e-mail posting to all of you later this week we will give you more details and link you to our first Internet Radio show about being on the radio.

We will also talk about ABBA, the trouble with money, unfortunately, about kids killing kids in our cities, this new marketing stuff, and some things I learned about Dale Carnegie’s brilliance from my daughter.

Hope you are interested and that you will be listening in later this week … so in the cliché of radio, “stay tuned.”

Finally …

These are trying times; so let us seek to be grateful, generous, hard-working, and fully alive. May it go well with you! It will be okay!

Rhythms of Grace

It makes me sad …

It’s back.  I have been thinking the past year of my good friend Glenn.  We worked together in international mission broadcasting over 20 years ago.  Glenn has been battling esophageal cancer for over a year and it appeared that he had achieved some victories.  I received word over the weekend that his three month checkup revealed that the cancer is back and has spread.  The prognosis is not good at all.  In his letter to all of us Glenn said that he “has a peace that is truly beyond all understanding.”  He is amazed, and so am I.  Prayers please for Glenn and his family.

The unforced rhythms …

It hit me right in the midst of some wondering and reflection about life and business direction this past weekend.  I usually take some time on the 4
th
of July weekend to do some reflection and writing on life, and some mid-year business issues.  In the midst of that I went to the assigned scripture readings for our Church services this past Sunday.  I was hit again by my favorite challenging piece.  In the paraphrase of the reading that is in
The Message
by Eugene Peterson I read again the words
, “Learn and live with the unforced rhythms of grace
.”
What do you think that means?  Talk to me about that!

The next six months are going to be challenging so let’s seek to know how to press on and to live with the peace of the unforced rhythms!

Yes, dead tree marketing is dead and you can be on the radio …

Here’s how!  As you may have also read in our
Coaching Connection
we are launching an internet radio station called the
Do It Right Radio Network.
Here is the logo for our station, and in the next week we will tell you how you can have your own program on this internet radio station.

do_it_right_logo

We will also be providing audio and video productions to teach you how to be a well-informed radio host, and to make your mark in the media marketplace of ideas, products, services, and experiences.

So think about how you will do things differently in life, business, and marketing you in the next six months.

Ten Minutes of Clarity

Info Snacking …

My job is to help you spot the future trends, indeed to help create them, so that you can be the best and perform at your best in life, faith, and business. Believe me they all go together. Recently Jeff Bezos the founder of Amazon.com used a term that defined a reality that I have been aware of for years.
He said that people today do “info snacking.”

Good or bad is for you to judge but it is true. Whatever your business or life message is, be assured that few will give it much attention, and those few will mostly just take a bite or two. So you better get very good at making your message engaging, attractive, and bite size. Last Friday I challenged a group of insurance brokers who had just been handed a 30 page booklet of info on a new product, to understand it so well that they could reduce the fundamentals down to seven sentences.

To further the exercise I told them to create a story, a parable, that helps illustrate the new product. I pushed them further; I said “be able to explain the product and service to a blind person.” There goes that massive brochure with charts and graphs and facts and figures and all that stuff. Make it snack-size. Make it clear!

Now, you do the same thing with your product and service.

Last Wednesday I helped a leader of a small business services firm develop a CD marketing piece on how to help small business entrepreneurs, “not work their business to death.” Sounds interesting! Busy business people are not going to wade through a complicated brochure, and this is a complicated subject. We produced a high energy, compelling, and challenging audio program on
How Not to Work Your Business to Death
. We subtitled it
“Ten Minutes of Clarity.”
And it is. The prospect can be told that “this is vital stuff, and just stick it in your CD player on the way to your next appointment or meeting and you will hear some money-saving and business-saving info.” Just a snack to attract.

If you are not doing this kind of marketing you and your company need help, now!

Finally some self promotion for me that will do you some good …

Please go to our web site and our Coaching Experience Store to see the new CD’s on marketing you, being on the radio, and how to lead and grow your business and trade association.

I am grateful for your reading this and sharing it with others.
